“YeTimket BeAl (የጥምቀት በዓል)” is the local name given to the Epiphany. It’s usually celebrated on ‘Tir 11’ on the Ethiopian Calendar, which is an equivalent of January 19. According the Ethiopian Orthodox Church system, all the churches have a replica of the Ark of the Covenant. These Arks are brought out to central public area for these holiday. Believers gather and spent a night or three depending on the type of the ark. Then in the morning holy water is sprayed on the people as a blessing, confession and Christianization.
